David Bahnsen Declares ‘The Socialist is My Enemy’ and Explains Why Capitalism is a Moral Imperative

TALKENOMICS produces podcasts for AInvest.com. In this episode of “Capital & Power,” David Bahnsen discusses the core economic and societal issues facing the United States, particularly New York City. Real problems, such as poverty and affordability, need to be addressed. Capitalism and Socialism have different solutions, and they are vastly different. “We can never at one and the same time question all [traditional] values. Such absolute doubt could lead only to the destruction of our civilization and—in view of the numbers to which economic progress has allowed the human race to grow—to extreme misery and starvation,” Bahnsen explains during the discussion.

Bahnsen argues that the solutions proposed by figures like New York City’s “communist” or “socialist” mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani are bad ideas that have already been “adjudicated by history”. He believes that collectivism and socialism do not respect the dignity of the human person.

“Lenin and all socialist Marxist collectivists fail to understand that man is created in the image of God. Business cannot be reduced to the commoditized functions of technocratic operations because business flows from the creative spirit of mankind and the creative spirit of mankind comes from our status as image bearers of God.”

Bahnsen’s proposed solutions are based on free enterprise, which he says honors human dignity, freedom, and the capacity to be productive. He believes that the right solutions to poverty give people “food and dignity and purpose” rather than just food. In essence, the discussion highlights a shared concern for societal problems but a deep ideological divide on the most effective and moral way to solve them.

TALKENOMICS has invited Mr. Mamdani several times to discuss his ideas and proposals. He and his staff have not responded, so the invitation remains open. We believe it would be a great discussion in which Mamdani could defend his ideas, like Mr. Bahnsen’s, with facts and examples.
